Chef Roland Liccioni is back ~ taking over the reign as chef / partner of Le Francais restaurant in Wheeling. The highly imaginative and artistic chef was previously at the restaurant from 1989 – 1999. During this time, Chef Roland achieved a five-star Mobil rating, five Diamond awards, accolades from Food & Wine Magazine, and in 1997, he won the James Beard Best Chef in the Midwest Award, a highly sought after honor. Under his direction, Le Francais was thought of as one of, if not the, best Restaurant in the United States. Chef Roland’s achievements literally put Chicago on the map of the culinary world.

Chef Roland shares this wonderful and historic restaurant with a deep admirer of his cuisine, Mike Moran. The Moran family is “thrilled to have Roland back to carry on the tradition of Le Francais”. Having been guests at Le Francais for decades, it is fitting that a family with such admiration and respect for French cuisine and the restaurant itself is now helping share this experience with thousands of other enthusiasts.

Since Chef Roland has returned to Le Francais, he and the Moran family have attained four stars from the Chicago Tribune. The restaurant has guests arriving from all over the world to experience the wonder of this extraordinary place with four star food and four star service.

Le Francais, the 30-year-old legend tucked away in Wheeling and referred to as “the best French restaurant west of Paris,” by Bon Appetit Magazine, continues to bring fine classical and contemporary French dining to the world.

Le Francais Restaurant is open for lunch, Tuesday - Friday from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.; and for dinner Monday - Saturday from 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m., and closed on Sunday except for private functions and some holidays.
